Thanks for putting that up, didn't know it. We thought he was a big movie star, but it turns out he was just a regular guy. I like him even more now. It would be fun to start a thread with movie stars, singers, and politicians that served with distinction, guys like Lee Marvin and Oklahoma boy ah , he was in the Rockford files, and the Great Escape, I can't tell you how much I love losing my memory, anyway

I’m pretty sure he grew up in Norman. He attended Norman High, anyway.

I heard earlier this year that Garner was instrumental in getting another big-name actor started in acting after Korea. I think it was James Earl Jones, but I can’t find anything to confirm that right now.

FWIW, IMDB says Jones was in the 75th Ranger Regiment, an NRA member, and a Republican.
