Kalashnikov museum

After a 15 hour train ride from Moscow I was in the Udmurt region and in the town of Izhevsk. I was told the Kalashnikov museum was there and got to visit after doing some work. It was pretty good for Russian standards.Of course they charge foreigners more to enter and even more if you want to take photos. But it was not that expensive.

After going up some marble stairs you go into the gun area.

with out further personal info on his life which was pretty cool I will show some cool stuff then some guns. This is the actual work bench and lathe he used when making the first AK.

I'm surprised the train goes there. Did you go thru Kazan to get there? My step-son-in-law's parents live a little South of there in Naberezhnye Chelny. When we went there back in 2000, the end of the train ride was in Kazan. We had to take a car from there. We might to back in 2010 so that looks like an interesting place to visit if it's not too far by car (and we'll get a Russian to buy the tics, lol).

Kopet- yeah the train goes thu there. I didn't come from Kazan but went there later that week. We came from Viatski Polyani (misspelled) which is more west than Kazan.

BTW- I dont speak Russian!
