Probably one of those situations where they threaten to pass a giant basket of poop and then "compromise" and whittle it down to a large salad bowl full of poop.

Either way, gun owners get a large bunch of poop, when it shouldn't even be something up for discussion.

The fact is, this legislative seasion hasnt even begun. Bills will be blocked in commities, reworded to have an entirely diferent meaning or otherwise change in ways so that its no real big deal at all. Big deal meaning there wont be any confiscation or bans of anything. The red flag laws being introduced are the ones I see making it through after being shrunk down so tight they are really meaningless.

Same crap happens every year here in good ol Oklahoma and its funny because no one lifts an eyebrow when its a restriction of your other rights, only the gun laws draw any real attention.

The Overton Window is a process whereby a person or group introduces something like gun confiscation, campaigns for it, pushes for it, gets some public support but not enough to get it passed and then "compromises" with the opposition and gets something passed that is less than the original goal - maybe background checks, or registration - that ends up being a step toward their goal.

Then they rinse and repeat over time, and, step by step, sometimes make it to their goal, and only the alert and astute realize they have been had. The good thing about this process is that both sides can play it and lost freedom and liberty can be regained. It's not limited to the example I used that we are so familiar with. It could involve taxation, welfare, suffrage, or any other aspect of our lives.

We know this. Most of the the legislators that are mouthing this stuff haven't even been sworn in yet.
The issue we are discussing is the agenda that those coming up for this legislative session are putting out in public because they hold the majority in the house and senate of Virginia. They CAN pass these draconian laws because they hold the majority no matter they are in violation of our Constitution.
It's nowhere near the frivolous votes in the Oklahoma legislature that the liberals put up knowing they won't pass because they are pandering to their voters to have talking points in the next election.
Virginia on the other hand will likely have a legal to them vote to confiscate firearms, and the rest of the country is standing by to see how far they will go, with the Governor already saying he is hiring thugs to go house to house and increased the budget of the corrections system to incarcerate those that don't comply.
This is a BIG DEAL.
