I'm not sure the pilgrims had heard of Marx. Oklahoma, on the other hand, had a thriving Socialist Party in the years leading up to WWI. It wasn't nothing for thousands of the faithful to travel by horse and wagon to a Socialist camp meeting to hear the likes of "Sockless" Jerry Simpson, Kate Richards O'Hare, or Oscar Ameringer speak about the evils of the day.The pilgrims figured out that it doesn't work.
