Make it a felony for anyone who is not a resident of a state to contribute - even by proxy - to the campaign of anyone running for office in that state. It ought to help a little.

I fully agree with that. It would do two things. First it would make sure that the people paying for these campaigns actually have a vested interest in the well being of that particular state. Second it would drive the cost of these insanely expensive campaigns back to where the RESIDENTS of the states would actually have a chance of running and winning.

DSA/dnc IS the greatest enemy of the USA in the world. Want proof, just turn your TV on.

It would also eliminate national organizations like the NRA from contributing to campaign funds of pro-2A state and local candidates.

Moms demand action definitely has an OK chapter; https://momsdemandaction.org/about/chapters/

It's pretty scary how organized they are, just poke around their facebook page a little, you don't have to open a facebook account. https://www.facebook.com/MomsDemandActionOK/

We've got a tough road ahead.

We definitely have our work cut out for us fighting against their ignorance.

Nothing worse than a group of ignorant, hyped upper soccer moms.

So ummm... NRA doesn't have local chapters run and staffed by people living in those states?
Well the original suggestion was:

"Make it a felony for anyone who is not a resident of a state to contribute - even by proxy."

So if the NRA is headquartered in Virginia, and has a chapter in Oklahoma, are they making donations by proxy?

My point is, if your political opposition is doing something better than you, and your proposed response is to just make that illegal... usually that applies to your side as well. Unintended consequences. So you have to think about that before proposing rule changes.

Or to look at it the other way, if the NRA can have state chapters and donate to state/local races that way, couldn't Bloomberg set up the same thing?

It's not as simple as making it a felony for your political opponent to try to beat you.

Good luck with passing a law against out of state money, especially after the Citizen’s United decision. The lower courts would rule against it and the Supreme Court wouldn’t even hear arguments. Money is speech and corporations are people and those Supreme’s aren’t going to hear otherwise. Not in our lifetime.

Only local chapters could contribute. Local chapters are made up of local people and the funding local chapters receive comes from the local people.

It's just a way to level the playing field. You know, where ideas, ideals, goals, and character actually matter. There would be no unintended consequences.

Oh, and since when is flooding the field with out-of-state money and interests better? If there is something better, there is no need for out-of-state money.

One other thing that would help is to repeal the 17th Amendment which will return selection of senators back into the hands of the several state legislatures. That would eliminate all those senatorial campaigns and practically eliminate any out-of-state influence in the selection of senators.
