According to the article he entered a blind plea. I hope that's true and if I were the judge I'd put the needle in his arm myself.
I missed that somehow. The plea keeps it out of jury trial right? So its only up to a judge to hear the evidence?
He entered a blind plea of guilty. There will be no trial, just a sentencing. He is whatever shade of toast the judge sees fit.

How can a judge sentence without having the gory facts? Which will be argued by the defence. Isn't that a trial?
