Yea, Like the above said. Good knives have no business in the dishwasher. I like knives that have a full tang for weightand at least one large knife like a that is hollow ground like a 6.5 santoku.

My favorites are the Wusthof classic or grand prix, henckels or Forschner knives in that order. Anything more it a waste and anything less is more times then not crap. I will say that I saw that Cold Steel is making kitchen knives I'd love to check out but have never even seen one in person

We bought a cheap set of Chicago Cutlery from Wal-Mart 15+ years ago, you can shave a tomato with any of the knives in the block and other than honing the blades with the steel they've never been sharpened. Since they are cheap we just drop them in the dishwasher after every use. They aren't the best but for $60 they've held up pretty damn well.

Sams club sells santoki knies made in germany they are $12 for a set of two they are actually Hekel brand packed in sams club store brand...They are For food service use so they the white Plastic handles not wood, wood does not hold up to constant washing without crakcing.
I bought the same knives same brand and packaging and they were $20 at another store before I found these for almost half off..They had the actual hekel packaging

These are really good knives and hold a good blade..We only use one knife to cook with..But the main attraction to me is they were somewhat quality knives and after 6 months they are cheap enough ($6 each) to toss in the trash and grab the spare in the package. Ive payed $5 to get kitchen shapened in the past.

This. They are not difficult to sharpen, but toss them if you wish:ooh2:

And these are for commercial use, and a dishwasher is no problem.

Check Ross and TJ Maxx for great prices on Wusthof and Henckels knives. I like my Henckles knives (Bought from AAFES) and have used them just about daily for almost 20 years.

I used to use a Lansky sharpener, but in the last several years have gotten lazy and use a little combo crossed stick carbide/ ceramic sharpener.
