I know what you mean. Most mechanics can't get to work because their vehicle won't start, Electricians always have outlets hanging out the walls waiting for a new one, and the list goes on.
It's different when doing it for a wage.

There used to be a saying but I can't remember exactly how it went ...

"Preachers' kids, mechanics' cars ..."

That's all I can remember of it! Lol
