The majority of lead used in the United States is imported - and has been for quite some time. I wouldn't worry too much about the story as that smelter likely only supplied a tiny fraction of the lead used here.
According to the smelter and every bullet manufacturer that has spoken up, ammo is almost exclusively made from recycled lead, and is therefore imported.

yes the lead smelting story is nothing to worry about.......most bullets come from recycled lead, and those secondary smelters are unaffected.
