What's the Legality of Cap & Ball Black Powder Pistols in Okla for CCW Permit Holders? Specifically in Tulsa and OKC ...

It's my understanding according to the ATF ... black powder pistols is not even a firearm. 4473 not required, just plop down your $$ and leave. Does this mean black powder pistols are legal to carry say into a post office?

It's also my understanding there is no entry in a Tulsa Policeman's law book pertaining to black powder pistol. Does this mean one can legally CCW a black powder pistol in places not legal for firearms?

Black Powder Pistols may not be a firearm to the ATF, but what is the legality to Tulsa PD and OKC PD to CCW permit holder?

For example a tiny Charter Arms Cap & Ball black powder Pistol is not a firearm.
but is capable of shooting a 40gr .22 bullet at 1200fps with 2gr Bullseye. easily .22 magnum power in a tiny package.

There is no Ok law exemption for carry of blackpowder weapons; they are treated the same as your Glock.

I have heard from inmates that black powder firearms are not firearms under Arkansas law. I haven't researched it myself though.

Good info to have-maybe keep the uninformed outta trouble. Black Powder firearms are not consider firearms by the U.S. Government...until you load them-hence its possible for anyone to buy them sans paperwork (that excludes idiot States such as NY,etc...).Felons,in most places,may buy and own them-HOWEVER if they purchase the components to load them and/or do load them,they re subject to arrest.

It really wasn't that good of an idea.

Yes, if you have a carry permit you can carry one. As much as I love my cap and ball revolvers though, I think there are better choices for self defense.
