Length of residency before applying for permit ?

In reading the OK CCW laws it looks like that after a new resident has obtained either a Ok. drivers license or Ok. ID card & establishes a residence, they are then eligible to apply for a CCW permit.

Is there any set amount of time you have to wait between the time you become a resident & the time you can apply for a permit?

IIRC, there is no longer a minimum time frame for residency. If you live here, have an Oklahoma ID or military orders placing you here, then you qualify for residency.

"Establish a residency in the State of Oklahoma. For purposes of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act, the term residency shall apply to any person who either possesses a valid Oklahoma driver license or state photo identification card and physically resides in this state or has permanent military orders within this state and possesses a valid driver license from another state where such person claims residency"

Nope, old info. Not the case for the last several years.

Once you have the OK DL or OK State ID card you are good to go, that day if you wish, to your local sheriff's office with your application.

Become a citizen of the OK state of Oklahoma by changing your license or getting a state ID with a Oklahoma address.
