Both of mine are DD 10.3" barrels. The FSP MK18 upper is a factory DD upper. I put the other 10.3" upper together. They're great barrels, good accuracy with quality ammo.

I have a 12.5" factory Noveske upper. I am weary of shooting the 10.3" with my 762-SDN-6 (if the ATF gets back to work). There are a couple of sites out that show serious erosion to AAC brakes with low round counts, less than 500.

The brake is a cheap (compared to the can) replaceable part. Erosion on the brake will be an issue but not for thousands of rounds. I have around 1.5k rounds on the 10.3" with the brake on, probably 1k of those with the SDN6 on. The first chamber of my brake shows erosion, but the first baffle of my can still looks a good as new. It's definitely not something I'm worried about. I wouldn't go any shorter and I wouldn't use the flash hider in lieu of the brake. But having the brake as a sacrificial blast baffle is cheap insurance. I started a thread on m4c about it but sadly I haven't kept it updated.

Definitely using the brake. Have all of my muzzle devices already lined up, including an extra brake for what will most likely be the 10.3 inch Mk18.

Not DG, but I don't believe it is the same in longer barrels. Has to do with powder burn rate. Longer barrel = less unburned powder to hit the brake = less erosion.
