Ive been out car shopping all week. Its down to an 11' Chevy HHR, an 11' Honda Element, or a 12' Kia Soul!(Exclaim).

Well, it depends on what you want to do with the vehicle. A couple years ago when three big dogs came to live with me, I started looking for a smallish vehicle in which they could travel in comfort. One big requirement of mine was that the rear seat at least fold up completely against the back of the front seats, leaving a flat floor on which the dogs could lie down. Of all the vehicles I looked at, the Honda Element was far and away the best at meeting this requirement. With the seats either folding up against the sides or coming out of the vehicle altogether, the floor was left perfectly flat. I put down a rubber-backed outdoor carpet, with a slit cut where the seats lock into the floor-mounted attachment points, and it's been great for hauling up to six dogs. The only thing I don't like about the arrangement is that the windows in the rear doors only pop out in the back - I'd have much preferred roll-down windows. But even with that shortcoming, the Element has been an excellent choice in that regard. You might consider that too if you're in the habit of hauling boxes that could benefit from a flat loading floor.

Get off my lawn.
Average is since I've owned it. Instantaneous is cruising at 75. Constantly around 30 until we climb a hill.

I have a little 35lb Boston Terror and he will definitely be a main passenger in whatever I get. Ironically I was researching Elements and they actually have dog friendly mods to add- 'The Dog Friendly Element Package'- you can buy the entire package of mods and totally transform your Element to a doggie friendlly vehicle or just a piece or two. With the washable floor and the large amount of cargo space it would be a great vehicle if you had pets you transported alot. My little guy would love it. Im actually kind of leaning towards the Element mainly for its cargo carrying ability. It also rated high in safety tests.

Here's my daily driver,

i1197.photobucket.com_albums_aa424_jonodeck_IMG_1814.jpg

2006 Honda Mini-Van. I love this thing. I'll never be without one. 240hp/240 lbs-trq or there-bouts.

I never use my pick-up unless it won't fit in the van or it's real dirty.

Here's my 1973 Challenger. It has a built 440 in it. Really fast car but the technology is 40 years old.

Next up is a 1965 Satellite. I love this car. I bought it from a guy up in Wichita who got a little over his head on the car. It's got a built 440 and Kiesler 5-speed manual transmission.

Finally, my 1964 Fury, the car from hell. I've had this car for over 5 years and it has never run right.

The original 318 poly that was pulled and dumped.....By the by, the engine ran alright.

A 383 I built for it that never ran right, I've pulled it. I'll keep the rotating assembly for another project but the block is junk.

I'm building a 440 for it now.

This is for Uncle Meat, a 1963 Sport Fury,

It was for sale a couple years ago and I just copied the pictures off the web. 1963 was a good year for the Fury.

The 440 I got for my Fury was found on Craig's List and picked up in Kansas. Paid $375 for the block and a steel crank and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff.

You need to make sure you don't over pay for a 440, they're not gold. Make sure you get a steel crank. There's a lot of 383s out there and there's a lot of firms making stroker kits that drop right in.
