Right now I can't decide if I want to replace the Choate stock with a Bell & Carlson or H&S or put that money towards my next rifle (700 tactical).

I've got an HS and wish I had gotten a B&C - they're cheaper for basically the same thing and I've been told by two separate folks whom I trust that they're better stocks (one was Steve Baldwin of Mechanical Accuracy).

Yup. It's sitting in Warne rings on a XTR two piece base.

Thanks for the tip on the stock, ez_bake. Changing it out won't do much for me in terms of accuracy, but I like the look and feel of the B&C Medalist A2 more. I think it's a bit lighter, too.

Josh, the Choate is significantly worse than other stocks? Such as B&C or comparable?

It gets bashed for a lot of QC reasons online - its not built to very tight tolerances (at least from what I've read online - I have to preface this whole comment with the fact that I've only ever been around one Choate US Stock before in my life and didn't shoot it), so that alum bedding block you get isn't as straight as it needs to be and thus isn't making contact everywhere its supposed to be with the receiver and recoil lug.

I've also heard there's plenty of flex in it even with the alum bedding block.

MMC - if you're going to get a B&C, this one is my favorite (light tactical):
