I'm too good looking to skimp on self haircuts and be a neanderthal looking dude like you.

Ima thinking Neanderthals had long hair cause they hadn't figured out hygiene back them. And they first time they saw a man with shorn locks they bowed down and worshipped as master and King.
When you're wielding the sword you don't want your shaggy mane getting in your eyes.

If you're at risk or just have a bad juju feeling, you have the right to stay home.

true, but it will also force some folks to choose between jobs and staying home to protect their family (say if they have a high-risk parent living with them or a child with severe asthma).

There is likely no 'good' answer to all of this, but it isn't going to be as simple as some people want it to be, either

If those folks weren't already practicing improved personal hygiene and taking other precautions before this hit that's part of problem.

I can possibly see why some would think it wouldn't be as simple, but in reality it should be . . . regardless of what you have or what you're sick from you should be staying home. A lot of folks couldn't/can't due to not having sick leave.

I'm guessing many do. However we know that this isn't a normal situation, regardless of how many folks want to pretend it is.

While I have empathy for that (I have comorbidity issues as well), I don't see that as justification for forcing that choice on me by a bureaucrat.

We could discuss how public health has always been an area where cities and states have been granted more controls, but i'm guessing you know this already.

I think this question will ultimately be judged by history in light of what happens next. I've seen a lot of talk from service industry folks here who fear that opening up before things are contained is going to screw them over again. The concern is that some of these measures will force them to open but that customers wont return. And if they don't, or can't make it, that unemployment options will punish them. Let alone the continued fear of another resurgence.

As i said, it's not going to be as simple as people want it to be

At what point do people start feeling comfy? When we don't have a bombardment of negative world ending media? When we have more testing?

People need to understand that flattening the curve/stay at home was to not override our hospital capacity. Our highest hospitalization count, I believe, occurred in late March. We are well past that date?

I made the mistake of going to Lowes last week, all I can say is, I'm floored that the numbers have decreased like they have.

I'm sure consumer confidence is tough to pin down.

When will people feel comfortable going to a movie, let alone getting back onto a flight? I'm sure it will depend on each person and where they reside. But in the same way that people have pointed out that stay at home orders shouldn't all be the same for everywhere, i don't think we can reasonably think that opening up and returning to normal can be simple, either. There will need to be steps taken to boost confidence as much as possible, even if it means treating different sectors more or less 'fairly'.

I know our city is targeting 'two weeks past peak infections', which i don't believe we've hit yet.

And i think you're right, it's shocking how many people felt it essential to get gardening supplies and such.

And all this time I thought it was my responsibility to protect myself and my family, not everyone else's. That's what this lockdown is all about. We must shelter in place to protect all those people who are at risk, even if no one in our house is in the at risk category, right? I guess we should also just give up our guns and transfer that responsibility to the gubment as well. I mean, they do know whats best.

I just find it ironic that everyone here states how its their responsibility alone to protect their family yet are willing to have the government dictate to us what we need to do to protect everyone, even when those actions can have severe detrimental effect to our economy.
