You could. I suspect that happens anyway when you go to screw the cap back on. I'm a bit anal about my water. You only have to get sick from bad water once to be really careful about how you handle your water ... :(

Yeah, I'd imagine. It's not something I've done, just thinking out loud.

What's the magic of five years on water? If the bottle is clean when sealed, what can cause the water to go bad?

For me, it is that someone who has the equipment to properly filter and package it without contaminating it in the process has done it. I guess I don't trust my ability to filter a large quantity in small containers that I can store longer term without worry.

I know anyone can filter their own water (I have a Royal Berkey, Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter, SteriPEN Sidewinder) but I wanted some prefiltered, small container, easily transportable water that I can throw in my vehicle on short notice.
