You are going to get what you pay for when it comes to plate carriers. That may not be an issue depending on how hard you intend to be on your equipment.
So with that in mind, what are some of your intended uses and environments you expect to encounter?

Would you like to run side armor plates? How about in conjunction with soft armor? What kind of gear do you want to attach to the carrier? Would you sacrifice comfort for a minimalist design?

I like my Mayflower LPAC with Velocity Systems soft armor and the Gen IV Chest rig. Still need a better set of plates though.

I can vouch for Mayflower products. I'm running their APC and it is awesome. I run Tacos on it. For just a chest rig setup, I would go with the HSGI AO TACO deal. I'm running it with a TAG slick carrier.

HSGI setup if you want to run light and get a slick carrier in the future:

This. BTW, you've got a Crye JPC right?

Just got it. My Velocity Systems Level IV SA swimmer cut plates fit really really tight in it, but they fit. I like it so much better than my Mayflower APC, which is why I'm selling it. The Shellback Banshee was really nice also, sold it though and kind of regret it. I plan on either getting another Banshee or JPC and getting another set of plates. Two is one, one is none.

I thought about the VS plates, but I really want the AMI Tac3S plates for their outstanding durability, but I've heard the LPAC is better suited to triple curves. I should have kept my ESAPIs until I got replacements.
