I have used Titegroup, Clays and N-320 in 38 Special. Most recently I have switched to Trail Boss for all my lead and plated bullet loads in all the old staright walled black powder cases.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for WST.

It's the cleanest burning powder I have found for loads using lead bullets and the smoke from the bullet lube is greatly reduced. As an added benefit, I have found that it meters quite well and throws consistent charges.

However, it's best for target loads. If you're looking for a clean powder that can deliver a bullet downrange very quickly, you may want to try HS-6.

The "clean look" of a powder depends a lot on the pressure when it burns: low pressure, more residue.
Plus if you shoot lead bullets, the lube is worse than the powder.
That's why you can almost start a fistfight about whose powder is "cleaner burning."
IMHO, some of the suggestions leave more residue than Titegroup at the same pressure with jacketed bullets.
I agree with the Vit powders, if you want to pay for them.
