Defense Secretary: Russia Gave Syria Chemical Weapons

WASHINGTON - Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel said on Wednesday that Russia is supplying the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad with chemical weapons, marking the first time a U.S. official has publicly made the claim.

Under questioning by Rep. Joe Wilson during a hearing in front of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Hagel said the chemical weapons had come from Russia as well as other sources.

“Where did the chemical weapons come from?” Wilson asked.

“There’s no secret that the Assad regime has had chemical weapons, significant stockpiles of chemical weapons,” Hagel said, prompting Wilson to ask: “From a particular country?”

“Well, the Russians supply them,” Hagel said. “Others are supplying them with those chemical weapons. They make some themselves.”

Putin's offering proof the rebels did it, at least in Allepo. From everything other threads have been showing, it's the rebels - even on YouTube. So, will we attack the rebels, too?

Well of course not cause Washington would never lie or bend the truth so if they are saying it was Assad who the hell are we the people to question them, LOL. They know what is best for us 7 without a doubt know Assad did the attacks. They even shot down all the claims in the House & Senate that it was rebels possibly.

All we can do now is sit back & watch it unfold & pray they are somehow right & Syria doesn't have the balls to strike back and that Russia will stay out as well as Iran. If Syria & Iran stay true to their claim to attack Israel in response we will be watching something outside of this administrations control explode in their faces.

Here's what gets me about that:

1. There are at the very least, provable ties between the rebels and al-Qeada (if not even more going on than that). This is real, it's not tinfoil-hat stuff. Several right and left media outlets are reporting it and citing credible sources. Al-F!@#$ing-Qeada for God's sake!

2. We're actively involved in two other military conflicts at this moment. One of those is against al-Qaeda/The Taliban (Islamic Extremists responsible for 9/11), and we've not declared an end to the one in Iraq.

Does this not make sense to anyone else, or is it just me?

There's no way the U.S. government comes out of this without a busted lip and becoming the laughing stock of the entire world. We'll be damned lucky if that's all we get. :(

I'm with ya man, I have not understood this at all with regards to this aspect. It's is even more reason not to get involved & let some other country handle this incident. there is no winner in this & it will come back to haunt us like the rest of our messing around in the Middle East has through history.
