I just need to do the final fire forming now.

I cut the brass down then annealed it and 1/2 way sized it then annealed it again and sized the rest of the way.
Then trimmed it and turned the necks...
Just playing today.
The empty on the far left is 30-06 then beside that is a .270.. and then my formed .308 ammo from
270 brass.
I do not own a 270..

I actually formed that about 2 years ago and just got around to neck turning and trimming it today and loading it.

I have done a test with my .308 and different brass 10 shots stayed resulted in 1.1" group

I have formed 338 federal, 7mm-08, 6mm remington, 243, 30-06,270, all into .308...
It is fun to just try and see what results you can get..
Great for hunting ammo under 200 yards.
Notice the neck/shoulder area is not real sharp, a little rounded..will be that way until i shoot it.
I want to shoot then resize and test this small batch against a small batch of Lapua brass..

Here is a pic of the formed 270 case before neck turning.. you can see the color change where it was annealed.

One thing I have learned is to not anneal until I have completed the forming operation when pushing the shoulder down. Annealing first before forming, leads to many failed cases where the shoulder is pushed down inside the case. I always anneal after the forming operation. This is especially true when expanding the case mouth to a larger diameter.

That is cool. Would be easier to sell/trade the .270 and aquire the .308. I get lazier as I age.

I get my fill of case forming from my .357 Herrett.

I had a .44 automag that used the 30-06 parent case to resize and reform to the automag brass. It was such a PINTA that I sold it. Made a nice profit on it though. I'd spend way too much time digging through the grass for that one piece of brass that I couldn't find.

Swampp.. If I can ever get my health back on track, I have a few pieces of the Winchester brass for you. No great quantity, but they are yours if you want them.. Give me a few more days to get stable and I'll get in touch with you.. Jim
