Many people have the difference drilled into them. Some have to wear a target clip on their hat for days if the call a mag a clip. After it gets drilled in, its like nails on a chalk board.

I say "clip" because I'm so street. It doesn't sound as tough when I refer to the "magazine" for my gat.

Terminology is always in a state of flux. There's a very thin line between the correct and the incorret. The final law is usage. Don't get caught on the wrong side of that line. Much besides your life depends upon it.

I was watching ABC news several years ago when a reporter refered to a 1911 in an Iraqi black market as a revolver. That was a bridge too far even for me.
