making a new sight blade for the 1903 springfield

success, i ground down my smallest nail set and got it out. which material do you guys suggest using. i've read about hack saw blades and joist hangers.

See if you can find a big washer. I'm guessing it will be closer to the correct width and will be easier to work.

I would maybe try making one (or several) out of plastic first (easier to work with) to get the right hieght. I bet an old credit card would be about the right width. Be alot less frustrating than slowly working the steel. could figure it out and when you ready for the steel one there would be no guess work maybe just some fine tuning.
