Should MAPS projects continue as proposed each year for the betterment of OKC?

the Gathering Place has been a heck of a deal for the Tulsa area, but it doesn't bring in tax money to the community from outsiders like us.

With regards to the Gathering Place, i think the aim is slightly different. It wasn't meant to bring in tax revenue per se. (And, i do think it is generating tourism. Maybe not as the primary destination, but it has raised the city's profile overall). But, it's still a park at the end of the day. The benefit to the community is as a public space and part of the stated goal is to increase the desire for folks to live in tulsa (it's still part of the overall plan we've discussed here before of helping attract remote workers, etc). And, being funded through private means, it doesn't really have to justify itself to the voters in the same way as a MAPS program.

I liked it a lot better when it was for big ticket items that made the community more attractive to outside investment instead of a bunch of little touchy feely projects the city should have budgeted within their normal process.

I’m sitting in the parking lot of my voting place. I’m torn about what to do. As others have said, I’ve voted yes in the past for MAPS but not so sure this time. What else could the city do with 10.2 million a month? Help the schools, help the homeless, lower property taxes? Just thinking out loud. I may just go home.

Let's put this out. Fox 25 tomorrow is broadcasting a special on the streetcars no one is using.
I said before it was a solution to a problem we didn't have.
I've only been in OKC once since they went into business. Had to wait on a couple to pass before walking across the street. Couldn't see inside because of the dark windows to see how many were inside, but suspect it will be like the Kilpatrick Turnpike. Once it was opened, there were darned few vehicles that used it. The bypass roads were packed with vehicles avoiding the tolls while the Kilpatrick was unused.
Drive on it now. It's a major thoroughfare heavily traveled.
I suspect the trolly cars will have the same history.
