Extractor looks broken. Where that jagged gap between extractor and casing is, should be a beveled angle metal lip

That doesn't look like a 7x57 bolt...is the casehead not going all the way across the boltface-meaning it looks eccentric, like there's supposed to be more under the extractor. At least it looks that way but we'd need more pics. Echo the others on the extractor.

That definitely looks like a Czech vz24 to me ...you're probably right on the money with it being a south American contract rifle.

If I'm not mistaken a 7mm or 8mm bolt will fit just fine and interchange as long as it comes out of a large ring action. Of course you'd want to check head space before you try firing it with a different bolt.

Nice rifle, good luck with it!

Does the brass disc on the RH side of the butt stock have any info on it? Might be able to tell more from that. Also is there a crest on the receiver over the chamber? If it used to be there and is "scrubbed" that will provide a little more evidence of it's nationality.

Rifle appears to be re-blued and possibly has been re-barreled or re-chambered. If it were mine and I could not figure out what it was, what cartridge it's chambered for, and is its headspace okay to fire I'd be headed by a good rifle smith.

A lot of the S American rifles were rechambered / rebarreled to other calibers. I have had them in 30.06, 308, and a 6.5x57, not to mention 7.65 Argentine. If it were me, I would take it to a pro and have it checked.

Thank you!

I'll have to find someone to look at it. I'm pretty sure the caliber is correct. A casting was done and I stuck a scope down there and 7mm looks to be fitted well.

I'll see if I can find someone to look at it. Thank you!
