You have a strange definition of “a little more.” A burger by itself from 5 Guys costs more than a Whatameal with a double burger, large fries, and a large drink. Add a large drink and a large fries (which used to be a deal until they started getting chintzy with the fries) and you’re right at double the cost.

Can confirm. I’ve eaten both in the last 10 days. Drink, fries and a cheeseburger at 5 guys was $22. Whataburger was $13.

Never been to 5 Guys, and there's one about 10 minutes from the house. I might have to change that.

It’s one of the better fast food burgers, but they’ve priced themselves out of the market for me. For the same price you could go to the Garage or Ron’s or any number of other burger joints that give you more and better (IMHO) food.

ETA: not that I’m trying to talk you out of going to 5 Guys. If you haven’t been, you should definitely go at least once, but do eat in if you go. Nobody’s fries travel well anymore.

I really don’t understand the following they have. I ate at one in AZ while on vacation on thought it was meh at best.

All of the chain eating joints are meh at best when you're used to making real home cooked food. Especially BBQ and Mexican joints.

I am not a fan of Whataburger. There has been one in Shawnee a dozen years or so now. I've eaten there about three times and always regretted it. Something about their grease gets to my gut, and I'm not adverse to greasey burgers.

I use to like hitting Whataburger drive thru back in my younger days after the bars closed but apparently I don't like it when I'm cold sober.

I was very disappointed in 5 guys the one time I tried it. Just okay and way too expensive. Now if a Ron's Hamburgers and Chili came to town I would probably OD on chili cheesy grease burgers.

I just remembered why I haven't been there before. The location closest to me doesn't have a drive through, and if I just want a quick bite while going somewhere, I'm not looking to go inside and eat.

The ONLY thing I liked about 5 guys was that they had Barq's rootbeer at the soda fountain with free refills. That's the only place I've found that. Lol.
