Here, but occasionally There.
Many here will laugh at that, but I have another story...

...stationed in Pakistan back in the later '60's, and I had a Baby Ben alarm clock. The alarm clock would never seem to wake me up, but when it vibrated over to the edge of the night table next to my bed and fell onto the large metal base of the floor lamp, that would wake me up.

I had more than one of the guys ask me if I was throwing that Baby Ben at the metal locker.

When I was in basic they played Reveille at 0430 every morning. There was about 5 seconds of static before the music started. By the time the music started playing most guys were already out of their racks. The DIs wouldn't come thru the door screaming and making noise until the music started.
Exactly! Hisss crackle hissss crackle hisss crackle hiss da da ditle da...

It is also a multifunction tool for breaking stupid recruits from sarcasm.
One of ours wore it up and down the squad bay with his rifle at high port screaming, "I will keep my sarcastic mutherfin mouth shut!" "I will keep my sarcastic mutherfin mouth shut!" "I will keep my sarcastic mutherfin mouth shut!" "I will keep my sarcastic mutherfin mouth shut!"

The sergeant took great delight in whacking the can when he passed by.
