Oh yeah, five-seven doesn't "accept 1911 magazine" :(

Military makes no sense to me; 21st century magazines: single stack 45s - good, PMags - baaad ....

So the five seven does seem like a good choice. High capacity, low recoil, able to penetrate body armor, ...seems like a near ideal military sidearm. I've been considering one for myself if ammo ever becomes readily available.

I use the Beretta 92A1 as my personal home defense gun and it's a great gun but I'm not convinced it's the best choice for our troops.

Don't hold your breath. I doubt the 5.7 cartridge will ever get widespread use. To me I'd like to see more of them as well.

5.7 was to replace the 9mm in 02 or 03 but a couple NATO countries bitched. Is a NATO approved caliber but didn't replace the 9.
