I have 2 different makes of .308 one with a 22" barrel and one with an 18"
I made loads and shot them through each rifle same day.
Some of the loads were within 5 FPS of each other.
My 18" barrel is just a faster barrel than the 22" and both have 1:10 twist.
Not all 24" barrels will have the same velocity ..just the same goes for the short ones.
The OP has shot factory ammo through this gun that did have higher velocity and his search is on for a powder that can be close to that.
The barrel is capable.. just need the load to get it there.
My close to the same FPS load in .308 was done with IMR4064
@thaHooligan you may look into a drop tube to get more powder in that case and not have it up in the neck.
I found trickling slower and higher in the funnel will stack kernels much better in the case.
Drop tube will do it even better I have read.
