Several are starting to really dry out around here. Brought this mess home today.

I looked for over 3 hours this morning and didn’t find any morels. It’s bad dry, and I guess that’s why.

On the bright side morels love to show up after fires so you may have a bumper crop next year.

Wife just came across these in the store. You guys that have been eating the ones you found need to really appreciate them more. That comes to over $415 a pound.

Found some more and made Friday dinner. Swordfish, Asparagus, quinoa and Morels sauteed in butter. First fresh Morels of my life, amazing. Thank God for the great Cross Timbers forest that provides us with sustenance.

So things have been quiet here for a few days now. Has everyone's spots dried up? I spent 5 days last week walking and driving the woods looking and came up with nothing. My spot from last year has not produced yet, but I went back and check the date stamp on the pic I took last season and it was on the 26th, so maybe it may still come through yet. I think a quarter inch of rain or more would certainly help. I am concerned about maybe the hogs are getting to mine before me. I shot a hog each day I was in that area and it looks a lot more rooted up than I remember it being last year.
