I just watched an interview with "Shoes". He is one of the two Tomcat pilots that flew against the Japanese Zeros in The Final Countdown. He described the action sequences were really hard to film because the director said the Zeros look best with their canopies open and the Tomcats look best with their wings pinned back. With the photography being done in a helo at hover, the Zeros at 90 knots and the Tomcats at 300 knots. He said the Tomcats were "falling out of the sky" because they had swept wings at a slow speed. Shoes was the Tomcat that gunned the Zero. He said he watched the other pilot almost hit the water. Shoes was right above him.
He also said Cathryn Ross hated the Tomcat pilots because they were so loud when buzzing the yacht she was on. They did it eight times.

Watched Lawrence of Arabia the other day. Made in 1962, it is a great movie with lots of action and very good acting.

Funny you should mention that. I saw an interview last week with Francis Ford Coppola. He said he and George Lucas saw that movie together when they were young men and that's what inspired them to make great cinema!

Just watched the 1956 John Wayne film The Searchers. Excellent movie, and one that the Duke considered his favorite. Mine was either McClintock! or Rio Lobo. What are your favorite John Wayne flicks?

Oh, so many to name.

North to Alaska
The Train Robbers (With Ann Margret - woohoo)
In Harm's Way
Blood Alley
Hondo
Stagecoach
Harari
Rooster Cogburn
The Horse Soldiers
Shepherd of the Hills
The Undefeated
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

Besides so many to watch, tonight I watched The Shadow Riders with Tom Selleck and Sam Elliot.
