The Final Countdown
The key to the whole movie is you absolutely must watch the very beginning and the very end.
Imagine the USS Nimitz in WW II.

The Gallant Hours 1960
James Cagney portrays Admiral Halsey

Not a real big movie guy in general, but still enjoy a good one when I can find the time. On the whole I think most are overrated.
I think my favorite of all time would probably be Jacob's Ladder from 1990(?). Kinda sad, scary, and touching all at once.
I also enjoy a good coming-of-age story. Whether a book or movie. A couple favorites there would be Stand by Me and My Life as a Dog, a Swedish movie with subtitles.
