Hello everyone, I'm here to find places in Oklahoma to do some long range shooting. I'm using a Imbel FAL 7.62x51 with a 26 inch compensated Heavy SS barrel. Glass is Burris 8-40x50mm XTR. I got it custom worked on from the Vince Buckle himself.

I just want to see how far i can push myself and the gun. I was really curious about firearm laws there. A few people told me I can't keep a gun in my car without a CCW and I'm worried there's more laws out there i need to be aware of. I plan on calling the t\state police there to see if its ok for me to transport my guns from Louisiana or not?

Well, you've been fed baloney. You can't keep a LOADED gun in your car without a carry license. You can transport unloaded guns from Louisiana, either open, in a gun case, or in an inaccessible compartment.
You can read the actual OK firearms laws here:
http://www.ok.gov/osbi/documents/SDA_Lawbook_NOV_2014.pdf

TITLE 21 § 1289.7 FIREARMS IN VEHICLES
Any person, except a convicted felon, may transport in a motor vehicle a rifle, shotgun or pistol, open and unloaded, at any time. For purposes of this section “open” means the firearm is transported in plain view, in a case designed for carrying firearms, which case is wholly or partially visible, in a gun rack mounted in the vehicle, in an exterior locked compartment or a trunk of a vehicle.
Any person, except a convicted felon, may transport in a motor vehicle a rifle or shotgun concealed behind a seat of the vehicle or within the interior of the vehicle provided the rifle or shotgun is not clip, magazine or chamber loaded. The authority to transport a clip or magazine loaded rifle or shotgun shall be pursuant to Section 1289.13 of this title.

Well, I'm not going to ***** about the differences mainly because it could be worst. I'm use to carrying a loaded firearm in my vehicle without the need of a licence but I was planning on getting my CCL anyway.

I need to find out about restrictions like magazine limits, do i need my firearm locked away in my home (I always kept one near by while i slept loaded and easy to access), and any bans on certain guns like semi autos. I just got told i'm being transferred Friday so you can understand the last thing on my mind right now is my firearms. It's more like how or when can I start the move because money is an issue and the holidays. This will be my first time moving out of the state and I don't have any family or friends from that state.

Need a CCL to carry loaded in your car. Keep whatever you want loaded by the night stand. The only difference between Okla and Louisiana is that in Okla, you don't have to worry about the police taking your guns away after a natural disaster.

Welcome, good sir! Just moved here myself.

On a side note, you are NOT WELCOME if I'm not allowed to put a few rounds downfield with that rifle :)

I'd also like to see through your glass (seriously) as I'm looking for new glass.

Welcome to the other side, sir.

Yeah, I remember when those people let those policemen illegally take their guns away. That can happen anywhere when you don't know your rights or let that illegal action happen. I'm from Morgan City and the police Chief is actually my uncle. My guns and rights were totally safe and protected home. Its going to be a new feeling going out like this with out my family and home town safety.

As for going out shooting that's the reason I'm here is to see where I can go near Oklahoma City to shoot long range. I have other guns too but I been waiting for a long time to have a chance to hit targets out pass 800 yards. I have other toys too though...

And have plans for a few more hand guns. I just need to find a range near by now.
