1971 is when the compression was dropped. And things went down hill.
Never heard it used about an El Camino......Oh really? What was you occupation?
Found this one in Colorado visiting my son. Original numbers matching drivetrain (402 TH400 12 bolt 2.73) a/c car. As little rust Ive ever seen on a unrestored driver 1972 el camino. Think ill keep this one for a while. Has real nice Global West tubular suspension already done. New front windshield. Has almost 100% of trim that came with it. The ignition has been replaced with MSD and the Holley 750 is working great.. What is odd the kid that had it back in high school never took off the smog stuff and put headers on it. For the win!!!!!!!
Thats the planOh man I would drive the heck out of that, just as it is body wise. Those wheels and that primer shot body.
Change all fluids, take care of any mechanical issues, replace the tires and hit the road.
I bet that 72 GMC Sprint had a white vinyl top before you got it.My first car bought in 1979 with 70 some thousand miles for $800.00 . The seldom seen 1972 GMC Sprint . Sold it a year later for $1600.00 when I worked at Hudiburg Chevrolet on 29th street MWC.
