Thanks for the comments, folks. I'm quite pleased with how this one turned out. Mo, thanks for the link! I do have a USGI M84 scope sitting around that I considered for my "M14" project, but I nixed that idea because of the anemic magnification and 70-year-old fragility of the scope. This will be a working rifle, not a decoration for the mantlepiece. I do, however, wonder how a Redfield 3x9 would look in place of the Weaver I now have on the rifle. Hmm.
