Well about 2 weeks ago or so, I dropped my iPhone 4 face down on some tile. Nothing happened, but a few days later, the screen was just shattered. I guess the pressure just gave in on it. Seeing as Apple will rip you off on repairs, and I tend to be somewhat tech-savvy... I decided to do the repair myself with a little bit of an upgrade. Turned out pretty nice if I might say.

Nice!! I replaced several screens on my 3g/3gs phones, but not my 4 yet, looks good, I really wanted a white one, damn them for leading us on about those coming out!

the 4 is really pretty easy to work on, I was very surprised, only bad thing on the 4 is that the Digitizer and LCD are all together, so you cant replace just the glass or just the display. I'm not gonna lie though, I love the white. Since my front glass broke, it was gonna be $125 to get repaired locally, even to do it yourself is about the same price, with apple I'd imagine it would've been well over $200, and I replaced it and the back with white for $160. Well worth it

Hey, wasn't this just in the classifieds??? hehe! ;)

I hate it when somebody lists something for sale then decides to take it down without reason!

(note, this is all in good fun!)

So what did you have to do to it? Btw that's the first white one I've seen, I was going to get one but didn't want to wait so I got the black. Yours looks nice!

Literally completely disassemble the phone, it's the first time I'd ever done this on an iPhone, and it honestly only took about 45 minutes total, even with 23 of the smallest screws i've ever seen in my life

I know I know I know, that's what I get for starting a new post in mid thought, I thought I was in General Discussions, And I know its all in good fun - notice though, I tried to post exactly what happened instead of just "delete"

My sister has a 3g that has a shattered front screen, I've thought about attempting to repair it myself.

Any recommendations?

The parts are way inexpensive, ifixit.com has GREAT manuals and even zeetron.com has good parts, and some videos (on the 4 for sure)

Main thing for me when I work on anything like a laptop or phone, good lighting, patience and no noise - had to make the wife leave the room twice.
