My fiber is closer to a gig, But thats well into the manageable speeds! Hell im about to pay the extra 40 bucks to get the 2 gig speeds.

Yes, I usually prefer my own router but they didn't offer a modem without one.

No Idea.
Seriously but I do remember dial up with the beeping and all.
Nothing has changed as far as wiring to this house since then I do know that.
Just a higher and higher service price.
