Prefer around OKC. Any suggestions? My usual shop won’t work on a vette since it’s so low to the ground.

2001 with 78k, runs fine but hearing the beginning of what sounds like maybe a rod or similar at low RPM.

Probably going to keep it stock, mild upgrades are fine, but nothing crazy. Prefer reliable instead.

If you are using Mobil 1 synthetic then change to another brand of oil and your knock might go away.
Seen it 3 times.
Could also be a carbon knock you hear. Some combustion chamber cleaner may fix it.
Carbon knock sounds just like a rod knock at low speed or idle.
If you can run E85 it may clean the carbon off after a few tanks.

78K is not any miles on an engine unless that engine is just a junk design.

It’s sorta hard to hear as it’s faint and the belt was squeaking as I got coolant on it but you can hear it here. I found a few other videos on YouTube of similar sounding LS engines but nobody had any info on what it was - I’m just guessing it’s a rod or similar.

You can send an oil sample to Blackstone Labs https://www.blackstone-labs.com/

Get an oil analysis.
Driven LS engine oil is what all my friends use in their LS engines.
I use Driven oil for their breakin oil and then VR1 silver bottle.

The LS is bad about wearing cam bearings out.
When I hear an odd noise and looking to find it one of the first things I will do is remove the serpentine belts or V belts and start the engine.

That eliminates any accessories causing the noise.
