just a heads up for all you military ( unless this is a repos) my neighbor just bought a new handhun at the Tinker BX. he said they opened on Sep. 29 and it is the first one in the country (a trial) and if it does well they plan on opening them at numerous bases. the employee said they had sold an average of 100 firearms a day since opening.

Its mil or mil dependent only. If you can get onto base and have shopping privledges for the BX, you're good.

Tinker is not the first BX to have the gunshop, but I believe its the first in Oklahoma. I have personally shopped at Eglin AFB FL and Holloman AFB NM.

They have a pretty good selection for as small of area that they have. They're constantly getting new firearms in, and have been doing a brisk business.

They will order firearms, but do not do transfers, trades, or consignments.

Stuff that's been in stock:
Judges (all flavors, including the long barreled one with stock)
Glocks
Sig
Beretta
SCAR
ARs of differing flavor
ACR
PSL
M-1A
308 bolt guns (Remmie, Winchester, Savage)
Scopes from Aimpoint and Trijicon

And they sell ammo too

I bought my Remmie R1911 from them about 3 weeks ago.

I didn't think weapons were allowed on military bases? Or is it just by civilians with concealed weapons?

I know when the son-in-law was deployed, I advised the guard at the entrance that I was a police officer, badged and ID'd him and told him where my sidearm as well as my BUG were located on my kiester.

He stuck his head inside the car, kinda looked around and said, "it must be hidden pretty well...I don't see it." So I asked if I was ok to carry them inside and he said yes and waved us through.

:anyone:

I heard all the horror stories about how if I get caught on base with a concealed weapon, even though I am LE, I am in deep do-do.

Is this all bogus? :ugh2:

I really need to know. In a matter of days (anytime now actually) we will be headed to Fort Riley, Kansas with the birth of our grandson. He will be born at the base hospital and I need to know what to do. Should I do just like last time? Just badge & ID the guard and hope he waves me on? What to do?

Contact the PMO/Base security and let them know that you will be there, check to see what the local policy is and abide by it. I worked at some bases that will go above and beyond normal logic, and do everything to not just prosecute, but persecute offending civilians (in their eyes, if you were not military or a FED, you were a civilian), while others will extend "professional courtesy"

Got to go check this place out and see what I can add to my "fishing gear" for my boat.
