keep in mind the BX price matches. so you then get the low price plus pay no tax, :woot:

Wish I could shop the BX. Hell they won't even let us DOD civilian employees buy the E-10 tainted gas on base.

Its mil or mil dependent only. If you can get onto base and have shopping privledges for the BX, you're good.

Is this AAFES? There are actually alot of stores/retailers on post that anyone can shop at. My understanding was that the only ones that required Mil ID were direct link AAFES (like the commissary and BX/PX), but stand alone retailers could sell to anyone.

I'm not arguing, just find it very surprising that AAFES would back a firearms outlet.

I also wonder if there is any requirement for them to report firearms sales to the Provost Marshal to anyone with an on base address?

Just curious.

The gun store is inside the BX, so mil and dependents only. The prices and selections are pretty good. As far as having a gun on base, you have to sign a form saying you are immediately leaving base, or taking it directly to your house on base, if you live on base you have to fill out a form and turn it in to base security also. As far as the OP, I highly doubt they are moving 100 guns per day.

I like it. There is a good selection of guns and the prices are comparible to anywhere I've been. The downside is that it is only open for military and dependents.

They don't charge tax on base, however I believe that the commissary now charges a 5% surcharge for some reason.

FWIW, the commisary has been charging a surcharge for a long time, several decades at least. It's designed to cover the cost of new facilites and renovations but, just like AAFES, they don't seem to be keeping ahead of civilian outlets on many products anymore.
