Well, changed lowers again. Picked up one of NFA's new CF reinforced poly lowers. Weighs in at 106grams (3.7oz). The complete AR now weighs 4lbs 15.7oz with Vortex Venom & rubber cover, and loaded 10rd alum mag.

Those are one option. Super $$$ though!

My barrel is a Bear Creek Arsenal "lightweight" midlength 16" that rang in for $60. It weighs 24.7oz. Faxon makes a midlength 16" Pencil barrel that weighs 19.2oz. It's a little more costly at about $165 +/-. If "cost is no concern" then Midamerica Armament made a ULR barrel that weighed 17.6oz. It's $275 where I found it in stock still.

Lol, That's cheap. I've got a Shilen mid contour 22" that's being fluted and threaded for 3X that.

Yup. The machining is the cost.
Select match grade.
It air gauges to .0003 of optimum specs.
The uniformity of the bore won't vary more than .0001" for the entire length of the barrel. The barrels are also completely stress relieved, and the bore is hand lapped.

Weight of M1 carbine with wood stock and sling.....5# 2oz.......just saying. As for hand lapped.....my dog will hand lap As long as there is beer in it.
