new stock old gun?

Years ago my father gave me a Hawthorne 30-06 he purchased in 1957 from Montgomery Wards. Sometime before he had cracked the stock and it had been fitted in a synthetic stock obviously not by a gunsmith.. The stock has been fitted with a dremel tool and looks terrible. Is there anyplace to find a stock already made for this gun? Can someone refer me to a gunsmith that can fit the gun? The gun has a semi mauser action, so I have been told. It is not a valuable gun but means alot to me.

I would have to see it up close, but Im willing to bet is a commercial Mauser action, probably an FN or Heym. If so, a 98 stock should fit.
