Great day out shooting today. Totally relieved me of the stress of over priced ammo! Also learned a valuable lesson, an ACH must be for decoration only. Had one that we used for a target today just for fun and everything we fired at it punched a hole at 100 meters. The only rifle that didn't penetrate was the Sig 522, but that left noticeable dents on the inside, even that would have left a rung bell. The Marlin 30-30 creamed it, the 700 SPS tactical in .223 tore through it with barely any movement of the helmet, the Mosin made it cry out for mercy, the Remington 6mm Ackley improved what a flat shooter and through like hot butter; not bad for a 50+ year old rifle. We finished it off with the Howa 1500 in .308. Even the 9mm fired from a little old Taurus at 25 meters passed through the poor thing. So my question is, are they any better than the pots worn in the olden days?
