I find it funny that this is the kind of firearm the left argues the second amendment was written about.

This could actually become a fantastic test case, and for that very reason.

My prediction: the persecutor decides to exercise a little "discretion" after all and either drops it, or (more likely) offers a sweetheart plea deal that avoids a trial but lets him save face for filing it in the first place.

This will really muddy the waters in this case. The teacher wasn't buying the drugs not was he charged with any drugs offenses. But he(teacher) was a passenger in the car that was buying the drugs:

I'm happy that my prediction of a plea deal was off the mark; the charges appear to have been dropped completely. I suspect the possibility of having a lot of firearms laws called into serious question resulted in pressure to let this one go, especially with a sympathetic defendant.
