If you like the proprietor of a shop, isn't it worth the extra $50 or so to help his business? Especially with so many grouchy shops out there, it's a worthy thing to reward the friendly guys.

I'd buy Glocks from the frowners all day long for $435 but my gripe is that OKC has three friendly bargain shops...Tulsa has 3 list price shops.

"at cost" means different things to different dealers.

Ding ding.....we have a winner.LE dealers have the lowest cost(asside from the big distribution warehouses).Nobody and I mean NOBODY is going to get rich selling guns,at least legally.Reatail stores need to make at least 10-12% markup to even keep the doors open much less make a profit. That's why there are essentially 3 kinds of dealers.

1)The "big box" stores like Academy, who don't really need to make a lot on gun sales. They are going to get you on the other things you buy when you come back in,i.e. ammo.hearig protectors, holsters, camping gear, other sporting gear, etc.
2)Police supply stores that make their money off deoartmental ammo sales, uniforms, lighting, gear, etc.
3)the small FFl operating out of a storefront(like Sooner Guns in Tulsa) or out of their own home(most of these have other jobs).

Everyone wants to buy stuff at rock bottom price but they want top dollar for the goods or service they are involved with.

So go ahead and keep choking every penny of profit from local dealers and keep buying from the big wholesalers.I mean after all who are they to think they should make a profit!!

At $435 these people are selling at about $40 above LE pricing. They are either headed for bankrupcy or making a lot of money on other products and using the Glocks as a leader item.No business can survive on 8% profit.

$50 in gas. Might as well pay list here.

LOL... Customers like you are what turns dealers into frowners over the years.

The day I turn into a frowner, I will quit. I love my "hobby", and trying to make customers happy.

I fall into category #3 on redmax's reply, I am a home FFL. I have a real 8-5 job, and If I had to feed my Family off of selling guns, we would starve.

I sell Kel-Tecs in the classifieds here, I make 19 bucks and some change on each weapon(minus the shipping).so less than 19 bucks. The state makes 21.50 on each one. And some people STILL tell me I should go lower.

So I paid 220.00 for a gun, and some expect me to sell it for 200.00...
pffft....

I have to tell you 98% of people I have sold to here are just freaking awesome, I dont feel threatend, I feel almost "safe" dealing with an OSA'er.

Get a few from the TW classifieds that would scare you.

Ccpatrick, what do you do for a living?
The wholesale cost of a plain jane glock is $440 + freight. Unless you are a certified Glock dealer or a L.E. dealer. The retail list price is $598 which I haven't seen anybody in Tulsa trying to get.
I don't know who your talking about in Okc but Fred Bakers/ OAS is a "wholesale distributor" who blows them out cheap when he feels like it.
