They should have stood up for the 2A like they promised they would. But as usual they lie and stab us in the back. They comprise and we get nothing in return all the while Wayne and Chris get multi million dollar salaries for running a “non profit organization “. If you want me to continue I have plenty to say about it.

When anti gun owner legislation is going to be passed, do they actually have the ability to stop it?

The bolded part is what most don't understand in how it works in DC. 90% don't care about the 2A or any part of the Constitution. All they want is power and to be elected to more power.
They will sacrifice human life to get that power and think nothing of it because it benefits them personally.
Four people run this entire government that we live under.
The President, Vice President, Speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader. Nancy is two heartbeats away from being President.
The Speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader controls the congress like a dictatorship. No matter how you vote for a rep or senator to do your bidding, when they get to congress, the leaders of the house and senate dictate to them how they will vote and how they will conduct themselves or they will never get to a position where a street or gymnasium will be named after them in their home town. They vote as they are told to vote no matter how many times you call, email, or text their offices.
That's the reality of politics in DC.
Like it or not, the NRA is still the leading political lobby to keep our gun rights. I've been mad at them as well, and the smaller organizations are certainly appreciated. I belong to a couple state and nationwide lobby groups. We have to funnel our money to support those groups.
Agreed. They're so far removed from the "real world" that it's like some big game in another universe or something.

Wayne and Chris should have kept their mouths shut and NOT said ANYTHING!!

There was nothing to say about the mass shootings that would make them less painful for those involved......ANY comment from the NRA would only invite people to lay blame on guns, gun owners and the NRA......they missed a great opportunity to SHUT UP!!

Instead, they did EXACTLY what the anti gunners do.......they vilified an inanimate object and alienated a large group of the members. It was a STUPID move!!!

Did you guys even read the post in my OP?

I can certainly understand why you are feeling screwed over by the NRA, and I have to admit after seeing a Chris Cox video on the red flag laws that seem so popular now, I'm leaning pretty hard that way myself.

But we do have to look at this from outside the NRA looking in and also from the inside looking out. After Vegas the NRA was going to be getting hammered, there was not any doubt about it. It WAS going to happen. Had they kept quiet? Vilified. For speaking up? Vilified. I don't really know that their statement was correct or not, but I do know where we would be today without them.

As for me, whether I renew or not remains to be seen. I will be joining GOA. It's not a "one and only one" pick that we get to make.

Yes they do. If it weren’t for them we wouldn’t have all the major gun control we do. They even helped write some of it. The NRA does do some good but as long as Wayne and Chris control it all nothing is gonna change. They have it set up to where they will never be fired. We are stuck with them until they die. Translation: our 2A will continue to be eroded away.

How are they to stop legislation that will inevitably be passed?

I read Liptak's letter before you posted it.

One thing I know about leadership of volunteers.......you don't crap on the people you are asking to help you!!

Do you REALLY believe the NRA would have been worse off if Wayne and Chris had kept quiet about the LV shooting???

I don't believe Trump would have been so quick to come out in favor of a ban if Wayne and Chris hadn't practically invited him to do so by stupidly issuing the statement they did!!!

Have you read the statement they released?? They basically said that the NRA "leadership" thought bump stocks should be illegal.....this gave Trump the green light to speak in favor of the ban; 1) because the NRA invited it and 2) it would make points for him with the anti gunners.......at least those in the Republican party.

I've been an NRA member for decades, I'm an NRA certified instructor and have recruited for them........but I'm done with them until Wayne and Chris are given the boot and they stop giving our rights away! Notice, I didn't say "compromising" our rights away.....a compromise means that both sides give something and both get something......from what I can see, we got nothing!!

I see your problem......you swallowed the lie that "legislation that will inevitably be passed"......the only proof of that is what Liptak and the NRA told us......

If the NRA is the 1000 pound gorilla they are supposed to be, they could have easily stopped passage of a ban by pressuring the Republicans, who controlled both the House and Senate at the time!!

You do realize the same NRA leadership that invited this ban also fought against the Heller case being filed....because....."we couldn't win".....right??

So if the house and senate already have the votes for gun control legislation the NRA can still stop it? I don't understand.

Didn't say they would be worse off. I just said they were going to be the "receivers" no matter what they did or didn't say or do.

I don't believe Trump would have been so quick to come out in favor of a ban if Wayne and Chris hadn't practically invited him to do so by stupidly issuing the statement they did!!!

Maybe, maybe not. One thing I like about Trump is he doesn't "ask permission" to make his opinion known or what phrasing to use. He just comes right out with it. I doubt he really gives a **** what the NRA thought on bump stocks. In the case of bump stocks and I think red flags laws I'm going to oppose him on these. But just think of the onslaught we would be looking at with Hillary. And why pray tell won't our GOP reps actually stick something in that DOES give us a little something back, like national CC or national reciprocity? I'd bet if that happened, Trump would sign it. Gotta start somewhere and they are too fekking scared to find out if he'd sign something or not.

Not going to disagree with you on this one either. It's been going on since 1934. They need to boot Wayne and Chris and any pick two of Stinchfield, Dana or Colion to promote. They all have a set.
See Above.

Again, who said the votes were there?? Where is the proof of that??? But, just for discussion, let's say it was going that way, if the NRA is as powerful as they want us to believe, don't you think they could bring pressure to change the votes?? Isn't that why the current NRA cheerleaders are insisting we shouldn't bail out this time......because "the NRA is still the biggest voice we have"??

Hey, if that "biggest voice in DC" is yelling surrender without a fight, what good is it??

We will never know if the NRA could have stopped a ban or any threatened gun control because Wayne and Chris rolled over and surrendered the goods without a fight.

I don't know about you, but surrender was NOT the reason I became an NRA member.....
