In addition to the myriad of other "huh?":anyone: comments that this nonsense got from me, this one really makes me go "WTF?".

I thought that I knew a little about the Internet and it's creation, but I don't remember a single reference to the Government research creating it "so that all companies could make money off the Internet."

What????????

Dave

The US military invented the "concept" of the internet in the 60's.
Civilians ran with it later on, and made it what it is today.

Having owned two business in the past, I can tell you that when my bottom line take home "pay" changed, my prices went up to make up for some of the difference. I did not put in 12-14 hours a day 6 and sometimes 7 days a week just so I could help the economy by "putting people to work." I was greedy so I could retire and make up for some of the time off I could have taken for the past 20 years had I decided to work an 8-5 job or tried to get welfare instead. I did fairly well, but I paid for it with the hours, stress, and very little family time. No vacation in 20 years, and working parts of some Holidays. It was a choice I made. Many small business owners will close and go home if taxes get over 50% for business.
If that happens and business have to raise their prices, customers will quit purchasing what they do not absolutely have to have and business will get tighter, almost where we are now.

Any one here want to quit their job working for a wealthy person or one of those big bad business that make money and go to work for a poor person or a company that is financially on the edge of closing? Add more taxes and more regulations, and more business fall into that category. The Obama plan is working. He is having to take a pause until after the election. I hope he does not have a chance to kick back in with his plans to finish us off.

Complete and total bullspit. The .gov didn't build crap. Hardworking Americans built those roads and bridges, developed the internet and eveything else in the country. the .gov just takes credit for everyone elses hard work. This is extremely disappointing. Way to get the business owners to support you, you moron, telling them that all their hard work was nothing, real nice.

As a small business owner I have to say our great leader is right.

When I needed to purchase inventory that was funded by...oh wait..that was me.
When I needed to purchase equipment that was funded by...oh...that was me.
When I needed to pay the bills that was funded by...oh...nope...that was me.

I own my own business. I'm my own employee. I receive NO gov't assistance. I pay out of my own pocket. Where was my share of the multi-billion dollar stimulus? It didn't exist.

Obama can kiss my frakking @$$

You beat me to it. The arrogance is staggering. I've never been surprised by his arrogance, but I was actually taken aback by this.

You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart.

Wow.

He is saying that government built the roads, schools, etc. Only problem is they were built with tax money from businesses and their employees. No business no tax money, no tax money no roads, schools, etc.

The government should be in the business of facilitating a free market and supporting the infrastructure that enables it. Roads, electricity, emergency services all provide for a "stable" society so that business can flourish. The government should not be in the business of choosing losers or winners in the market only providing the environment that enables free trade. Individuals build businesses and wealth while the government currently builds barriers to entry. These small business owners are not success because of the government but despite it.
