Gary Rossington and Artemus Pyle are the only 2 originals still alive, But the only ones who Died in the crash were Lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zandt, Guitarist Steve Gaines, His sister and back up vocalist Cassie Gaines and their road manager Dean Kilpatrick. All the others died later on and even did a comeback tour in 1987 and have stayed together for a long time with replacement members. Allen ( Guitarist)died from pneumonia a few years after being paralyzed in a car wreck, Billy Powell (keyboards) died not long ago from heart problems. I forget how and when Leon Wilkinson died (bass). I think Ed King who played with them for a time is still around also as is Randall ?? who took Allen Collins place after he had the car wreck.
