Badger from last season. He was in the hole still alive during the pic. Non aggressive in a trap. Out on the prowl they seem to be a little cranky. Trap with a longer chain than usual, prevents the stake or earth anchor from being dug up.

SMH ... SPK ... you can tell how high that mound is by where the barbwire strand runs across the front in the first pic ...

There were TWO critters I hated to see coming with the game warden when he brought injured or sick wildlife to my dad back in the day.

The first was beavers. The second was badgers.

Both were mean as spit, but you haven't smelled ANYTHING nasty until you've cleaned up beaver scat. Jesus, I'm gagging just thinking about it and I'm old enough that to say it should be a distant memory is an understatement. Lol
