Grand Canyon (South Rim) scouting trip yesterday. With a whole day to spend down there, we still only managed to see 6 or 7 of the 29-plus sites, overlooks, and other attractions of the park. While I loved the North Rim of the Canyon, the vistas of the South Rim are so much more wide and sweeping. Sadly, most of the day was with a cloudy sky, so there's no sunlight on the Canyon to highlight its colors and shadows.
However, the wife and I have decided that we HAVE to make more trips down there so we can see more. Plus, we are researching out of the way points on the North Rim to go check out. But for that, we need to question the park ranger that is over that area. We will probably have to rent a Jeep.
Someone else had a good day there as well.
And, here's one many may have not heard of before. The Little Colorado River Gorge is to the east of the Grand Canyon and the Little Colorado River flows into the Colorado River. That little squiggly area to the east of the Grand Canyon is the gorge area. We only saw a very small part of it that is next to Highway 64 going into the Grand Canyon.
