My guess based on the amount of brass on the ground is that they got into a groove, stopped paying attention to what was going on (because they were too focused on the target), had a squib, didn't realize it and continued fire.

I wonder if a good knife maker could take those shards and have them into a knife? A good story to go along with a knife at deer camp, then again the Nick name “Biden Pants” might not be so fun🤔

Obstruction. The most common cause is someone leaving cleaning stuff in the barrel - patch, jag, brush, cleaning rod, etc.

Homemade cartridges are probably up there somewhere too.

Whatever caused it, it was in the barrel and not in the suppressor or whatever's on there or it would've probably flown away (suppressor)
It will blow at the weakest point. If the break or what ever on the end of the barrel is the problem and is mounted very well then the barrel will split. Or blow the action which ever is weaker.
